Permanent Diaconate Ordinations 2026

The Archdiocese of Winnipeg joyfully celebrates the ordination of seven new permanent deacons who have answered God’s call to a life of service to Christ and His Church.

On Friday, June 26, 2026, Archbishop Murray Chatlain ordained six men to the Permanent Diaconate during a beautiful celebration at St. Mary’s Cathedral:

• Mark Coates (St. Vital Parish)
• Quirino Gille (St. Ann’s Parish)
• Paul Human (Notre Dame Parish, Selkirk)
• Ernesto Samiana (St. Anthony of Padua Parish)
• Jose Vasquez (St. Patrick’s Parish)
• Maui Zamora (St. Edward’s Parish)

We also celebrate the ordination of Deacon Rick DeBin of St. Helen’s Parish, Shoal Lake, who was ordained to the Permanent Diaconate on July 17, 2026, at St. Augustine’s Parish in Brandon. Deacon Rick will serve the Archdiocese of Winnipeg alongside his brother deacons.

Please join us in congratulating our newly ordained permanent deacons and praying for them, their wives, and their families! May the Holy Spirit guide and strengthen them as they begin this new chapter of ministry in service to the people of God.
