Couples for Christ Young Couples Assembly at St. Kateri

“Couples for Christ (CFC) Winnipeg hosted a Young Couples event on Friday, Nov 17th at St Kateri Parish titled Unwind. It is an event to give the husband and the wife an opportunity to step away from the buzz of life, take a breather, and appreciate God’s faithfulness in their lives.

The event started with a small cocktail/snack fellowship to give couples a few minutes to meet other couples, catch up, share stories and just be with company.  Then, we opened the night, singing songs of praise. As Saint Augustine said, “singing is praying twice,” and I tell you, we all prayed twice – loud!

Then, it was time for the main event — couples were handed out a surprise envelope full of about a dozen questions meant for them to ask (and answer) each other. We had questions such as “what do I do that makes you feel most loved?”, “what is your fave memory of us?”, “What’s something you haven’t done in a while that you really miss?” and much more!  These questions and this moment’s goal was to revisit that bliss of courtship – when nothing else mattered but to get to know each other and to be with just each other – and as young couples, this is something we really need!

After giving the couples plenty of one-on-one time (which I am sure time felt short to most couples), they grouped themselves with other participants – sisters together & brothers together – and were provided with some guide questions. There were 3-4 people per group, and they each shared stories of challenges and victories to be a source of inspiration to other young couples.

Couples in attendance were parishioners from different parishes across the city. These assemblies are avenues where young couples can listen and enjoy teachings and activities that are relevant to our journey. We conduct these events every quarter (the next one is on Feb 2024). Stay tuned for the next one! AMDG!”
