Chrism Mass 2024

In our Catholic faith, there are moments that stand out as profoundly sacred, where the essence of our beliefs is tangibly felt. The Chrism Mass is undeniably one of those moments. This past Tuesday, March 26th, 2024, the Archdiocese of Winnipeg held their Chrism Mass, where the oils used in sacraments were anointed and consecrated, and where priests from all corners of the archdiocese gathered in unity.

At the Chrism Mass, we encounter the symbolism of unity in the priesthood, the bond between the ordained ministers and the faithful, and the sanctification of the holy oils—the Oil of Catechumens, the Oil of the Sick, and the Sacred Chrism—which will be used throughout the year in various sacramental rites.

As Easter draws near, may we remember that these sacred oils blessed at the Chrism Mass are a reminder of the boundless mercy and love of our Lord.
