World Day for Grandparents and the Elderly

The fifth World Day for Grandparents and the Elderly (WDGE) will take place on Sunday, 27 July 2025. Pope Francis instituted WDGE in 2021 to be celebrated by the universal Church every July, on or near the liturgical Memorial of Saints Joachim and Anne, grandparents of Jesus. This year’s theme is “Blessed are those who have not lost hope” (cf. Sir 14:2).

Resources for the World Day for Grandparents and the Elderly

The CCCB prepared various resources to promote World Day for Grandparents and the Elderly 2025. They can all be found on their website, here. These resources include prayers, suggestions for the Universal Prayer, a blessing for grandparents and the elderly, a sample bulletin announcement, social media posts and more! Parishes have all been sent this information, but anyone can access it through the CCCB’s website.
