Good Friday | April 18, 2025
We desire a prayerful experience for all, and we encourage you to abide by the following:
- As we proceed along the route there will be a lead truck with the choir followed by the Cross; we ask the participants to remain behind the Cross and the rope at all times.
- Groups have been specifically assembled to carry the Cross from station to station. Please allow them the opportunity to complete this service.
- There will be time at the end of the walk for everyone to pray and venerate the Cross.
- Follow along in the program.
- Readers are assigned at each station.
- Sing along with the procession at each station.
- Stay on the road and/or public property.
- Respect our neighbour’s private property.
- Follow the instructions of the team directing traffic as we process.
- Every effort will be made to wait until all have arrived at each stop before the station begins.
- If you require assistance along the route, please do not hesitate to approach any member of the traffic team.
- Royal Canadian Mounted Police (RCMP) and First Aid will be present throughout the procession.
- There are no public restrooms available along the route.
Residential Street Parking is available. Please be aware of areas with time-restricted parking and abide by the rules. Posted signs should be checked before parking for any restrictions in effect. Please do not park in No Parking or No Stopping (including rush hour) zones, or too close to a fire hydrant, stop sign or sidewalk/crosswalk or an intersection.
We also have permission to park at the:
- Lord Selkirk Comprehensive Senior School (221 Mercy Street)
- École Bonaventure/Selkirk Junior High at (516 Stanley Avenue)
- Curling rink by the water tower (381 Jemima)
There will be volunteers in high-visibility vests at each of these locations.
When the parish reaches full capacity, there will be overflow in a designated area outside the church. Please follow the instructions of the ushers and parade marshals. To ensure a safe walk, those who are inside the church will exit first, followed by those who are in the overflow outdoors.
A documentation team will be present to highlight the Public Way of the Cross. If you have concerns about getting your photo taken, please inform the team.
