The Winnipeg Tri-Diocesan Bat Kol Committee is pleased to welcome to Winnipeg Sr. Maureena Fritz, NDS where she will present her latest book, Renewing Jesus’ Name.Sr. Maureena, native of Saskatoon, SK, has lived in Jerusalem for over 30 years. She is professor emerita of St. Michael’s College, Toronto, and founder of the Bat Kol Institute in Jerusalem whose mission is “the study of the Word of God within its Jewish milieuusing Jewish sources.” In the Foreword of the book, it states that “she appeals to her fellow Christians to recognize, honestly and humbly, that the roots of antisemitism that have persisted throughout history of the West are to be found in the New Testament itself and in the traditional Christian theology of ‘supersessionism,’ i.e. Christian supremacy over Judaism and all other religions.” This work for the 98-year-old from the Sisters of Our Lady of Sion (NDS) is viewed as her ‘final testament,’ and she will present it on Thursday, May 30 at 7:30 PM in the Audio-Visual Room of Saint Boniface Cathedral, 180 de la Cathedrale Ave. Comments on the book following Sr. Maureena will be offered by Belle Jarniewski, Executive Director, Jewish Heritage Centre of Western Canada, Greg Barrett, Former Chair, Catholic-Jewish Dialogue of Manitoba and Professor Mary Ann Beavis, and Professor Emerita, St. Thomas More College, Saskatoon, SK.  Please register for the session at  wpgtri.batkol@gmail.com. There is no cost to attend.
