Bat Kol International presents “Ancient Texts for our Troubled Times”
Ba Kol International is offering a series of three online presentations, “Ancient Texts for our Troubled Times”, by prominent New Testament scholar, Professor Amy-Jill Levine, to encourage Christians to teach and preach their scriptures with responsibility and care. The conditioning effects of the “teaching of contempt” still linger in subtle ways, even in a post-Vatican II Church. In the August session, Antisemitism: Why does it persist in Catholic teaching and preaching 60 years after Nostra Aetate #4?, Professor Levine will shed light on why negative stereotypes of Jews and Judaism persist and how a sound understanding of the Gospels’ historical and cultural context is essential to overcoming ingrained biases and strengthening the reconciled relationship between Christians and Jews. This one-hour session will take place Tuesday, August 4, 2026. For further details and registration information, please click here,
