From the CCCB: Message to Mark the Celebration of Ramadan 2025
The Canadian Conference for Catholic Bishops has issued a press release marking the start of Ramadan – a month-long Muslim holiday of abstinence – which coincides with the season of Lent. As such, The Holy See’s Dicastery for Interreligious Dialogue has recently published a message entitled “Christians and Muslims: What we hope to become together.” The document addresses Muslim brothers and sisters, expressing warm greetings and a shared spiritual proximity between Christians and Muslims during their respective periods of fasting, Lent and Ramadan. It emphasizes the commonalities of faith, prayer, and charity, highlighting a shared journey on earth and a collective aspiration to become better people. The message promotes fraternity, dialogue, and hope in a world marked by injustice and conflict, encouraging cooperation in building a better world.
