A Night of Prayer and Support for Vocations

The annual Serra Club Dinner brought together the Catholic community in support of vocations to the priesthood and religious life. More than 200 people gathered for an evening of prayer, fellowship and encouragement for those discerning God’s call.

The event began with Evening Prayer (Vespers), setting a prayerful tone for the night. Participants then gathered in the ballroom of the Viscount Gort Hotel for dinner and fellowship. The evening opened with a moving rendition of the Canadian National Anthem sung by Bénédicte LeMaître, accompanied by an honour guard from the Knights of Columbus.

The evening featured guest speaker Fr. Christopher Pugh, who shared his personal path to the priesthood. His moving testimony reflected on his journey of faith and echoed the words of St. Augustine: “Our hearts are restless until they rest in You.” His witness inspired attendees to reflect on God’s presence and guidance in their own lives. From his studies and work in physics to ultimately answering God’s call, his story reminded everyone that the Lord continues to call men and women to serve His Church in unique and unexpected ways.

The event concluded with a raffle and silent auction made possible through the generosity of many donors and supporters. The excitement and joy shared throughout the evening reflected the community’s commitment to fostering vocations and supporting the future of the Church.

As we give thanks for a successful evening, we invite everyone to continue praying for vocations and supporting initiatives that help form future priests and religious. Together, we can help ensure that the Church continues to grow and flourish for generations to come.
