2024 Catholic Schools Day – Educating for Eternity

On February 16th, 2024, Manitoba Catholic Schools came together to hear Dr. Brett Salkeld share about looking at teaching through a Catholic lens. Dr. Brett, author of Educating for Eternity: A Teacher’s Companion for Making Every Class Catholic, invited us to think about how every class is taught from some worldview or other, with presuppositions and goals shaping our content presentation. Once we can see that neutrality is not an option, we can begin to see how Catholicism informs our approach to everything. He went into more detail during the afternoon follow-up workshop.

There were other afternoon workshops: Jason Cegayle presented on Laudato Si’ and Laudato Deum, Dr. Anju Bajaj presented on Artificial Intelligence, an engaging session on Math was presented by Sarah Melo, and a session on “Everything You Wanted to Know About Indigenous Education But Were Afraid to Ask” was hosted by the MCS Truth and Reconciliation Advisory Committee.

A big thank you to St. Mary’s Academy for their hospitality and hosting and to all those who worked behind the scenes and contributed to the success of the day!
