10:00 a.m. - 1st Topic: "Are faith and reason at odds?"
10:30 a.m. - Q & A

11:45 a.m. to 12:45 p.m. - BREAK for LUNCH (pack your own lunch or go to a nearby restaurant)

1:00 p.m. - 2nd Topic: "Is the Church credible?"
1:30 p.m. - Q & A
2:45 p.m. - 3rd Topic: "Is Catholic sexual teaching good for society?"
3:15 p.m. - Q & A
4:15 p.m. - Departures

Note: Participants may "come and go" and attend any session they'd like! They are not expected to stay for the entire day, although of course they are free and encouraged to do so. 


First Presentation: "Are faith and reason at odds?"

  • The apparent view that science and religion are opposed

Second Presentation: "Is the Church credible?"

  • Biblical fundamentalism
  • Apparent inconsistencies in the Bible - Old vs. New Testaments 
  • The idea that religion incites violence 
  • Abuse within the Church

Third Presentation: "Is Catholic sexual teaching good for society?"

  • LGBTQ questions
  • Contraception
  • Abstinence and Chastity


Dr. Brett Salkeld is Archdiocesan Theologian for the Roman Catholic Archdiocese of Regina where he is also director of academic formation in their permanent diaconate program. he is the author of several books, including How Far Can We Go? A Catholic Guide to Sex and Dating (with Leah Perrault) and is currently working on a book for Catholic teachers. Brett has an education degree and has worked in the formation of Catholic teachers across Canada. He is also co-host of the Catholic podcast "Thinking Faith!" (with Eric Gurash).

Food and Snacks

No food and snacks will be provided during this event. You can bring a packed lunch to eat in the cafeteria but the regular school kitchen will not be open. You may also choose to grab lunch at one of the nearby restaurants. 


Parking on the SMA lot is FREE during this event.
