The Archdiocese of Winnipeg’s Communications Office is responsible for conveying pertinent archdiocesan information to parishes and other organizations throughout the archdiocese.
Three ways this information is circulated is via the weekly online bulletin, our newspaper The New Wine Press and the Archdiocese of Winnipeg Directory. More information about each of those follows below.
The Communications office is also responsible for responding to media inquiries and providing public relations support to the archdiocese as well as coordinating content for the archdiocesan website.
The Director of Communication also serves as the Winnipeg diocesan editor for the Prairie messenger, a weekly Catholic newspaper serving Saskatchewan and Manitoba, published by the Benedictine monks of St. Peter’s Abbey in Muenster, Sask. The Director of Communications covers events in the archdiocese and writes news articles for the Prairie Messenger and also serves as a liaison for archdiocesan organizations seeking to have their news articles or other communications appear in the Prairie Messenger.

The Archdiocese of Winnipeg Weekly Online Bulletin
The Archdiocese of Winnipeg Weekly Online B ulletin is a list of upcoming events in the Archdiocese of Winnipeg and other timely announcements from organizations including the Catholic Centre, Archdiocese of Winnipeg and the Canadian Conference of Catholic Bishops.
The weekly online bulletin can be found on the archdiocesan website at www.archwinnipeg.ca and is updated every Tuesday at which time the updated bulletin is emailed to all church pastors and/or administrators, members of the Archbishop’s Pastoral Council, deanery pastoral councils, healthcare ministry, prison ministry, religious communities and various other clergy and individuals.
Items for the weekly bulletin are to be emailed to firstname.lastname@example.org and will be added to the bulletin no more than three weeks before the event or registration deadline for the event. Items can be submitted at any time and are added to the following Tuesday’s update.
The New Wine Press
The New Wine Press is a newspaper published by the Archdiocese of Winnipeg for parishioners throughout the archdiocese. The New Wine Press includes articles about events and developments from within the archdiocese as well as the Archbishop’s Message and the Archbishop’s Schedule. Articles on events that take place in other faith communities may also be included particularly those concerning interfaith issues, ecumenism and social justice. All submissions must be approved by the editor of the New Wine Press.
The New Wine Press is published five times a year and 12,000 copies are distributed by churches throughout the diocese. The New Wine Press is distributed on the first weekends of October, December, February, April and June. Respective deadlines are Sept. 7, Nov. 7, Jan. 7, March 7 and May 7.

The Archdiocese of Winnipeg Directory
The Archdiocese of Winnipeg Directory is published annually and is available online at www.archwinnipeg.ca for viewing or printing. The directory includes contact information for the archdiocesan curia, its pastoral services, tribunals and archdiocesan councils as well as a brief history of the archdiocese and its bishops plus current statistics. The directory includes detailed contact information for each church and mission including mass times and a breakdown of parishes, missions and reduced services churches by deanery. The directory includes detailed contact information for diocesan priests (including retired priests), religious priests, deacons, seminarians, brothers and sisters. Other sections provide contact details for retreat centres and organizations, educational institutions, social services and religious communities.
The directory is updated annually beginning in late summer with a target deadline for completion in early October. Individuals and organizations currently in the directory are contacted to provide required updates. However the directory can be updated at any time during the year and individuals and organizations are encouraged to provide updates at any time as they occur.
The directory is grouped in five chapters on the website, each in an easy to view or print .pdf file. Updates are to be emailed to firstname.lastname@example.org.
