  • Rural Scenes in Manitoba:

    Posted on May 31, 2017

There is much variety in rural Manitoba and I often have the privilege of seeing this beauty as I travel about the Archdiocese. Here we have a cold windy day in May on the beach of Lake Manitoba as well as a fine sunset near Lake Manitoba. The countryside is also dotted with old churches and cemeteries off the beaten path. This unused Catholic church and the adjacent cemetery is not easy to find, off the main road between  Ashville and Ethelbert. It used to serve the farming area around Ashville during the days when there were many family farms. It was dedicated to Our Lady of the Assumption and was closed in 1989.
